Ayurveda means “The Science of Life” in Sanskrit. It originated in India thousands of years ago and emphasizes a lifestyle of preventative health. This medicine focuses on three main energetic types based on emotional, mental and physical characteristics; Vata, Pitta, Kapha. When the body is balanced and healthy then the natural immune responses are strong and can fight off diseases easier. Our treatments are designed to help reduce stress and maintain an overall balance.

Dosha Types:
VATA – Earth and air, means "wind” and enables the other two doshas to be expressive. The actions of Vata are drying, cooling, light, agitating, and moving. The Primary areas of the body are hips, thighs, ears, bones, large intestine, pelvic cavity and skin. If the body develops an excess of vata, it will accumulate in these areas.
Dry or Mature Skin

PITTA – Water and Fire, and represents transformation. It governs body temperature, digestion, absorption, assimilation, nutrition, metabolism as well as skin coloration, and luster of the eyes. Mentally it is related to intelligence and understanding of imbalanced emotions.
Sensitive or Normal Skin

KAPHA – Water and earth, and represents structure and lubrication. This dosha type provides the material and structure for the physical body, as well as being responsible for strength and resistance. It governs the heart, lungs, chest, throat, head, sinuses, nose, mouth, stomach, and joints.
